YARDIE is a crime drama directed by Idris Elba. Cert 15. Starts off in Jamaica where there is a gang war. The protagonist is narrating. Idris was behind the soundtrack. Based on the book. See the ads for the recommendations. Some familiar faces. I'm sure some of the dialogue will be hard to understand. You might like the soundtrack. My cousins listened to Reggae. Good cinematography. D has seen tragedy. His brother tried to reunite people. Mirrors what Bob Marley did. One of the gang leaders takes him under his wing. He is later sent to London to run an errand. He does have run ins with other gangs. Rico is the man he meets in London. Stephen Graham also stars. Speaks in patois.  Ivonne lives in London. She grew up in Jamaica. Vanessa is the daughter that Dennis hasn't seen in a long time. Set in the 80s. Interesting locations. Great cast of actors. A story about love, loss and revenge. It is not right to glorify criminals. 

This is a Spike Lee joint. You may have seen Malcolm X, 12 Years A Slave, The Birth Of A Nation, Free State Of Jones, The Butler, Hidden Figures, Selma, Long Walk To Freedom, Barry, Detroit, Bamboozled, Blazing Saddles. He does meet a variety of characters. He decides to ring up the terrorist organization called the KKK. His colleague Phil would pose as Ron when meeting the Klan. Ron lives a dual life. If you enjoyed the previous films, John Wick, Die Hard, Mission Impossible, James Bond, The Equalizer, Spy, The Man From Uncle then this is for you. You have this CEO of an internet company getting involved. Reminds me of Zuckerberg. I liked the films of the twists, the brutal violence, a superb cast, variety of locations. Based on the books. I'd got this from the library. Interesting collaboration between two great authors. I recommend the film Another Earth. Starts off with a pregnant teen Maria. She's about to give birth. She 'steps' (teleports) into a new world. Full of forests and blue skies with no population at all. Afterwards she and her newborn Joshua return to Datum Earth. The main protagonist is Joshua. He's able to step from one world to the next. As many others have been doing using a device. There are parallel Earths to the west and east of Datum (normal) Earth. Some chapters focus on other characters. There are troll and elvish creatures that can also step. The Black Corporation is a company that wishes to discover more about these worlds. Lobsang is a Tibetian reincarnated into a machine. He travels with Joshua in a ship. Different timezones like 1915 following soldier Percy Blakeway, 2015 cop Monica Jansson.
